Designed by Eero Aarnio in 1963 and first exhibited at the 1966 International Furniture Fair in Cologne, the Ball Chair represents a milestone in Aarnio’s design legacy. Constructed mainly from fiberglass, the chair features a playful, flexible form that is both simple and groundbreaking—often described as a “room within a room.”
A hallmark of Finnish design, the Ball Chair embraces a modernist, futuristic style that contrasts with traditional Scandinavian minimalism. Its iconic design has earned it a place in design museums around the globe and memorable appearances in films, music videos, and magazine covers over the years.
